The Ontario Energy Board adjusts the Regulated Price Plan (RPP) twice a year; May 1st and November 1st. The pricing structure is designed to reflect the true cost of electricity and encourage conservation while smoothing out the peaks and valleys of market pricing.
RPP pricing is based on a two-tier structure for residential and designated consumers. During the “winter months”, November 1st to April 30th the first 1,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) are priced at the lower tier and any consumption above this threshold is at the higher tier. In the “summer months”, May 1st to October 31st the threshold for the lower tier is reduced to the first 600 kWh.
If you qualify for a conservation threshold which is more than the lower applicable threshold (e.g. because there is more than one unit associated with your account), you must complete the Low Volume Consumer or Designated Customer – Declaration Form for Multi-Unit Residential Properties and return it to our office by fax or mail.
