PoolsaverTM Swimming Pool Efficiency Program

The  PoolsaverTM Swimming Pool Efficiency Program has ended.

Although this program is no longer available, we have a number of tips to help pool owners keep their pool as energy efficient as possible.

Energy Efficiency Tips for Pool Owners

  • Replace your constant speed pool pump with a variable speed pool pump: A variable-speed pump uses electricity only when needed - up to a 90% reduction! Making the change can save you up to $73 a year.
  • Decorate your pool in dark colours: Darker coloured pool finishes absorb more of the sun’s rays, and that energy helps to heat the pool, saving you heating costs and lowering your electricity consumption.
  • Cover your pool: Not only is a pool cover a great way to help keep your pool clean from any falling debris when it isn’t being used, but it is an excellent way to help prevent heat loss. By covering your pool, you can trap more of the heat and prevent evaporation of the heated water, significantly better than any windbreaker
  • Automate Your Cleaning: Robotic pool cleaners do the work for you and use less energy. They can lower your cleaning costs by more than 50%.
  • Turn the Temperature Down: Save on heating costs by turning the temperature down two degrees. Also try reducing the temperature midweek when you’re not in the pool.
  • Set a Timer: If you are a Time-of-Use Customer, use a timer to run pumps, filters and heaters during off-peak periods when energy prices are lowest.
  • Upgrade to LED Bulbs: LED lightbulbs use up to 75% less electricity and last up to 25 times longer. They’re also great for the pool deck and outdoor areas.
