Waterloo North Hydro (WNH) employees are helping to make the holiday season more joyful for local families.

WNH raised $12,000 for the United Way Waterloo Region Communities through a three-week fundraising campaign in October and November.

“Our employees have continued to support the United Way and make a difference in communities we serve through their hard work and generosity,” said WNH President and CEO Rene Gatien. “We are happy to make this donation to the United Way and offer our support for the outstanding work they do.”

The fundraising campaign began in October and included a number of employee-organized events, including a chili cook-off, bake sale, mini-carnival, turkey raffle, silent auction, and pancake breakfast. Employees were also encouraged to contribute through voluntary payroll deduction and one-time donations.

WNH has supported The United Way since 2004 and raised more than $175,000 in that time. The organization also supports numerous charities across the region and encourages employees to be active members of the communities it serves.
