The Government of Ontario is helping businesses impacted by COVID-19 through the introduction of a series of temporary business grants designed to help recover costs for personal protective equipment and provide extra support for businesses required to close or significantly restrict services as a result of provincial public health measures.

What is the COVID-19 Business Support Grant?

There are currently two types of grants available to Ontario businesses:

  • The Property Tax and Energy Cost Rebate Grants, which provides a rebate to eligible businesses in respect of property taxes and energy bills.

The Energy Cost Rebate Grant will fully offset the energy costs for eligible affected businesses. There is no cap on the rebate received.

Businesses in Waterloo Region may claim one electricity and one natural gas bill per location. To be eligible, bills must have been received after  November 23, 2020. (The date the region moved into modified Stage 2/Red Control)

  • The Main Street Relief Grant for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which provides up to $1,000 for PPE costs to eligible small businesses across Ontario with 2 to 9 employees.
